- The group which now comprises Sentinel Maritime were
formerly employed as the Risk Management Division of a large
UK plc. We are specialist providers of a complete range of
consulting services for the maritime industry, from
conducting assessments and developing plans to advising on
asset protection and loss prevention.
Sentinel are the
main service providers for one of the world's largest
container lines, and have taken over 100 vessels through the
plan approval process.

Raymond Gibbons BSc., B.A., M.A.

| A graduate of the US Military
Academy (West Point), Raymond served as an infantry officer
with command and staff responsibilities, while receiving a
Bachelors in German from the University of Maryland, and a
Masters in French and German from Pacific Lutheran
University during his military service. He developed
contingency and anti-terrorist plans for the US Command in
Berlin, and served on the Allied Staff, Berlin and for the
9th Infantry Division, primarily in the areas of planning
and training. On leaving the forces, Raymond entered the
management training programme of Chemical Bank (now JP
Morgan Chase) and became head of worldwide ship finance for
the Irving Trust Company (now the Bank of New York). He was
a main board director for Regency Cruises, operated day
cruise vessels in the US market, and has worked on numerous
port and ferry projects in the Caribbean. Raymond was editor
of the Bankers Forum, and a director of database management
company RGA UK Ltd. Articles by him on ISPS related issues
have appeared in Ports of the World, Cargo Security and
Containerisation International. He
received his ISPS and security training at Lloyd’s MIU Risk
Management and has, as well, successfully completed a
residential training programme for Ship Security Officers
approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. |
Capt. Dennis E. Smith Master Mariner

Capt. Smith served as a navigating officer in the UK merchant
navy for 25 years, the last 8 years as Master. He has served on
various types of vessels, including general cargo, container,
tanker, bulk carrier, heavy lift, reefer, and car-carriers. He
worked with Marine Safety Services as a marine safety inspector
and safety training officer, training officers and crews in Safe
Working Practices, Fire Fighting, Survival at Sea, Handling
Hazardous Material, First Aid, and the ISM Code. He has lectured
on the implementation of ISO 14001 and Environmental Management
and is a qualified and IRCA registered ISM Code Lead Auditor.
Capt. Smith received his ISPS and security training at Lloyd’s
MIU Risk Management and has, as well, successfully completed a
residential training programme for Ship Security Officers
approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. |
Roy Winfield, MSc, CFE

Roy Winfield has over 35 years experience in the security
industry. Twenty-six of those years were in the Royal
Military Police, Special Investigation Branch, serving in
the Far East, Central America and Europe, where he was
involved in many high profile investigations. He was the
senior MOD Hostage Negotiator for the Middle East during the
early 90s and had responsibilities for close protection of
Royalty and VIPs. He was the Officer Commanding the Special
Investigation Branch during the Gulf War. Upon retirement
from the Army, He became Head of Fraud Prevention for credit
card company Access. Later he was National Security Manager
to a large facilities company, with responsibility for the
security of 825 sites throughout the United Kingdom. Roy is
a Certified Fraud Examiner and holds a Masters degree from
Leicester University in Security and Risk Management. Mr.
Winfield received training on the ISPS Code at Lloyd’s MIU
Risk Management and has been an instructor for the UK
Maritime and Coastguard Agency approved Company Security
Officer and Ship Security Officer courses LMIU Risk
Management runs in partnership with Warsash Maritime Centre. |
Gwyneth Williamson

Gwyneth has 15 years experience in sales, marketing and data management.
She is a graduate of the Insitute of Travel and Tourism and is an established expert in the Tourism Industry.
She has been responsible for corporate communication and brand promotion of a number of successful start-up organisations.
She has produced brochures for a wide range of companies, including full creative and production reponsibilty for a leading multi-national tour operator.
Gwyneth also brings to Sentinel years of data management and client targeting experience. A promoter of Corporate Social Responsibility, she is keen to highlight environmental concerns in the workplace. |
